Rendezvous 2007

We had another great Rendezvous here in the beautiful
Pacific Northwest with 12 boats from 33 to 47 feet and
about 30 people. Poets Cove at Bedwell Harbour on Pender
Island is a great venue. There are very good docks, a hotel
with spa and a pool, and great dock staff...
Friday evening we had a YSW-sponsored dock party and the
BBQ salmon was a hit again. As was the wine! Several owners
also brought out their own tasty hors d'oeurves and treats.
And I should especially mention Terry's Bavaria cake! We
also had a great give-away with lots of prizes from Yacht
Sales West, Lewmar and Petit Paints. Andrew from "Amizade"
also brought prizes and tons of beer to share and from his
brewery, Victoria's Lighthouse Brewery.
On Saturday, Randy Keith from "Captains Mast" caught and
prepared some wonderful West Coast Dungeness crab, and we
had our fill all afternoon. It was a good way to polish off
Friday night's left-over wine!
Also on Saturday, I took out a bunch of owners on one of
the larger boats, John and Leslie McKnight's 46 "Second
Passion" for some light wind cruising chute setting and
sailing lessons.
Saturday night we had a wonderful dinner at Morning Bay
Winery with all local Pender Island ingredients. Everything
from the lamb, crab, cheese, morels, veggies and greens,
berries and of course, wine came from Pender Island farmers
and producers.

I think the only way we can top this next year is to get
more boats out there!
